The racers drive nearly twenty-four hours a day (obeying posted legal speed limits of course) and make stops at different racetracks all over the country to compete in time trial races. The event, as it always has been, is foremost one of endurance and vehicle preparation. No support crews are allowed. The tires that are used on the street are the same ones that are raced on (one set per team). Although scoring is based on performance at the race tracks, the vehicles and their drivers must survive thousands of miles of driving interspersed with the finest meals available at gas station convenience stores. Competitors battle fatigue, weather, traffic and the demands of high-speed competition with both unknown amateurs and seasoned professional drivers like Parnelli Jones, Price Cobb, John Buffum, Elliot Forbes Robinson and Hurley Haywood.

How do I know if a part is in stock?

All of the parts in the RockAuto catalog are in stock unless the part description shows "Non-stock item--shipping delayed up to x days".

This means our warehouses do not have the part, but we can order it from the manufacturer--the number indicates how much time will pass before the part would be shipped to you. Most manufacturers will ship directly to you (the 2-day delay covers their time to process the order). Some manufacturers ship to us and then we re-ship to you (which causes a 4-7 day delay).

I have a 1986 Lincoln Town Car - that is so incredibly rare here. This is the only privately owned Lincoln in Western Australia. The car is in mint condition with the original paint and has been professionally converted to right hand drive (the steering box has been relocated....not the chain behind dashboard trick). Some parts are available locally, same Ford engine we used in Australia 20 years ago, but many are not.

I placed an order on a Thursday, and it arrived here in Perth, West Australia the next week on Wednesday. Six days to ship parts half way around the world!
