I recently ordered a whole new exhaust system, including Y pipe, from
you.
Installation was a breeze since everything fit perfectly and mated
with the original hangers.
You have a happy customer!

Tip: Take a Close Look at the Interior Before You Buy... |
|

|
When shopping for a neat old car to restore it is easy to fall in love at
first sight and miss big problems that might have helped negotiate a more appropriate
price or meant not buying the car at all. I discovered it is necessary to do
more than take a close look at the engine, transmission, body and other systems.
Take a very close look at that interior too!
I bought a 1967 Lincoln with what looked like a nearly immaculate leather
interior. The car had sat in the garage for more than ten years. The elderly
owner’s son had the car professionally cleaned inside and out to get
it ready for sale so I thought nothing about the strong lemony car wash scent
inside the car. There was a small hole in the headliner that I guessed was
an old cigarette burn. The cigar lighter in the dash did not work and the climate
control system was not fully functional, but those appeared to be unrelated
and relatively easy problems to fix.
A few days after I got the car home it started smelling less lemony and more
like a gerbil cage. The car’s interior had been infested with mice. Mice
had chewed the “cigarette hole” in the headliner (cigarette ash
usually falls down not up!). A fried mouse body was across the electrical terminals
on the back of the cigar lighter. Mice had pulled the quilting out of the underside
of the rear seat upholstery and built a big nest. They also had set up home
in the ventilation system. It was heartbreaking to realize the beautiful leather
interior, the carpet, the headliner, and everything behind the dash smelled
like dead mice and droppings.
So add these steps to the pre-buy inspection list: Look in the interior for
odd little holes. Pull out the rear seat cushion. Start worrying if the car
interior has just been doused with air freshener. Try sniffing inside the trunk
or smell a piece of the interior, like a seat cushion, some distance away from
the car. Take a skeptical friend or spouse along and have her look over the
car too. If a dog (or cat) is handy, see if it is unusually interested in sniffing
the interior. Test drive the car with the heat on (urine soaked carpet smells
extra bad when it is warmed up).
I eventually got the Lincoln to the point that other people thought it smelled
fine. Unfortunately, I was sure there was occasionally still a faint musty
odor on my clothes after driving the car. I ended up selling it at auction
to avoid going batty (mousy?). Mouse damage is repairable, but know about it
beforehand and that it will cost $100 to replace the carpet, 24 hours to disassemble
the interior down to the metal, etc.

| 1973 Pontiac Grandville |
 |
This 1973 Grandville was purchased by me in May of 2005. It came from
Pennsylvania and needed some work. Only 85,000 miles on the clock, this car
has a 455ci 250 HP with power seats, sport package, power windows, power
locks, remote trunk release, and air conditioning (yes it works!).
I used RockAuto parts on this restoration. Alternator, Air intake hose,
pre heater hose...next will be the power steering pump and
hoses, and u-joints. Your prices are the best
and the shipping is FAST!
