now has the added option of searching for your part
using our traditional server page catalog. This catalog
option will help our customers who have challenges using
the Java based catalog, particularly Macintosh and Linux

Other benefits to the traditional server
based catalog are that you can copy text from the page
and print directly from your browser.

Now Has Engines For Your Import!
|
|
Along with top quality remanufactured longblocks for
your domestic vehicle, we now have them for your import
from ATK. ATK have achieved both QS-9000 and ISO 9001
certification levels, one of the few engine remanufacturers
in the world to have done so.
There are over 150 processes involved in remanufacturing
an ATK engine. Featured procedures include:
- Engine blocks magnafluxed, bored, precision-honed
and mains line-honed
- Camshaft bearings line-bored for accurate center-to-center
clearance
- Engine blocks and cylinder heads precision surfaced.
- Cylinder heads magnafluxed and machined for three-angle
valve seats
- Crankshafts stress-relieved, precision ground and
micro-polished
- Camshafts precision ground or replaced with new
- Each engine tested (most hot-run tested) for compression,
oil pressure, oil leaks, engine noise and general
operating condition before shipment.

5. Cooling systems on many cars today:

Answers to Cooling System
Quiz: 1. (C) is correct, although a 50/50 solution is
adequate for most climates, protecting to -34o F. Never
use pure antifreeze. 2. (A) is correct. As stated above,
a faulty thermostat, causing an engine to run too hot
or too cold, can damage the engine. 3. (B) is correct.
And when replacing the cap, be sure to install the right
one for your vehicle. Pressure recommendations vary.
4. Because all three functions are dependent upon the
drive belt (or belts) all three answers are correct.
5. (C) is correct. Quiz provided by the CarCare Council.

Ford
vs. Chevy
|
|
|
The age old battle of Ford vs. Chevy is
raging strong in my household deep in the heart of Texas.
I grew up a Chevy man through and through. Dad had a
variety of Chevys while I was growing up, including
a '65 Chevelle, '61 and '62 Corvettes, '55 and '57s
plus many Chevy trucks, he passed his love for them
on to me. In the late 90's, I decided I wanted to restore
a first generation Camaro and came across a '68 SS 396.
It was literally a basket case with the car completely
disassembled and in baskets, boxes and crates. Still,
it was an original big block, 4 speed car and I couldn't
pass it up. It took me two years to bring her back,
but boy is she back. I wish I knew then what I know
now about Rock Auto!
The wife grew up with affection for Mustangs. She was
a coupe fan and I told her the only Mustang I would
ever consider would be a Fastback, which she despised.
A friend offered up a '64-1/2 convertible and the better
half and I agreed it would be a good compromise so a
Ford finally found it's way into my garage. The car
sports the original 260 c.i. engine and 3 speed. I lacked
a PCV valve to complete the engine work and over the
course of several weeks, none of the local parts chain
stores could help me locate one. That is when I did
an Internet search and found RockAuto. You guys had
the right part and it was delivered within a few days
and fit perfect. Thanks! As I bring her back, plans
for the ragtop include a T5 transmission conversion,
front suspension mods, new wheels and tires, an all
new pony interior and new Caspian Blue paint. Once she
is done the wife will have her Ford and as for me, well
I'll just keep driving my Chevy Camaro. After all, I
may have to work on them there Fords, but I don't have
to drive one!
