E.P.A. Compliant
E.P.A. Compliant Converters are not legal for sale or use in California, New York or Colorado. Restrictions apply in Maine.

With Davico's First to Market Prototype Service, they can take an Original Equipment Converter and replace it in a matter of days, at a fraction of the cost of an O.E. Catalytic Converter! Davico will "prototype" the O.E. Converter, and return a brand new one based on those specifications.

BUILD / Prototype Process

1. Order
Place an order for a Davico BUILD catalytic converter. We'll collect payment at the time the order is placed.

2. Email / Confirmation
Receive order confirmation email from RockAuto.com with instructions and vehicle specification paperwork.

3. Pack/ Ship
Carefully pack your OEM catalytic converter and completed paperwork inside shipping box. You can either purchase a discounted return label on our Order Status & Returns page (see "How much does return shipping cost?") or you can send the part yourself via a carrier like UPS or FedEx.

Note: Davico must receive an Original Equipment part, shipped in one piece, with no cutting or modifications. The OEM part must be shipped with all heat shields attached, where applicable.

4. Wait
Allow 5 business days for Davico to prototype your OEM catalytic converter and build your new catalytic converter. If your old part cannot be prototyped, it will be returned to you and the BUILD cost will be refunded.

Note: 5 Business Day Delay starts when Davico receives your OEM catalytic converter.

5. Receive New Part
Receive shipping confirmation with tracking number when your new part is on its way to you. The cost of shipping your new part to you is included in your order total.

Have You Fixed the Problem that Caused your OEM Converter to Fail?

Catalytic Converters are designed to last the life of your vehicle – they do not fail on their own. It is important to fix the source of the problem before replacing your OEM converter. There are three major reasons a converter fails:

OVERHEATED / MELTED

Often caused by unburned fuel entering the converter from a faulty:

  • Spark Plug
  • Exhaust Valve
  • Oxygen Sensor
  • Fuel Injector
Burned Catalytic Converter

CATALYST POISONING

Often caused by exposure to emissions substances from:

  • Leaky Cylinder Head Gasket
  • Silicone-Based Sealant
  • Improper Fuel (E85, Diesel)
  • Worn Piston Ring / Valve Seal
Oil Fouled Catalytic Converter

STRUCTURAL DAMAGE

Often caused by road debris, corrosion or other conditions such as:

  • Air Gap Pipe Failure
  • Flex Pipe Failure
  • Stripped O2 Sensor Threads
  • Broken Hangers
