Elastic multi V-belts enable the non-positive power transmission of torque in belt drives without a tensioning pulley. - Elast belts are made using synthetic rubber materials (sometimes fiber reinforced) that enable them to keep constant tension on a drive system for the entire life of the belt, thus, there is no need for a tensioning mechanism in the system.
