Delphi holds more than 30 OE proprietary innovations and 150 patents in fuel module and pump design. All pumps are tested for durability up to 150,000 miles. Delphi OE engineering and testing processes enable them to create smart, durable, electric fuel pumps with features that resist failure.

Why Do Fuel Pumps Fail?
Fuel pumps typically operate for seven to ten years before failure. Premature failures are most commonly caused by one of the following reasons:

  • Excessive Hot/Cold Environments
  • Contaminated fuel
  • Excessively running a vehicle on a near empty tank which prevents the pump from being fully submerged causing it to overheat

The Delphi Difference

  • Delphi utilizes the patented Generation IV turbine pump where possible to deliver fast fuel pressure rise for fast engine starts.
  • An integrated fuel pressure regulator maintains pressure at fuel rail. That means ideal fuel injector performance. Also, the fuel will not drain back into the tank, so drivers will not experience long cranks.
  • Delphi electric fuel pumps are designed and tested to operate even with low voltage to ensure a vehicle will start if it has a low battery.
  • A refined reservoir design ensures efficient fuel replenishment from the tank to the engine, even in the harshest driving conditions. Drivers will experience more accurate fuel level measurement and delivery for fast starts and no long cranks.
  • An OE fuel vapor pressure sensor confirms to the ECM that the EVAP emissions system is performing to specifications, and also reduces the potential for greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Rigorous OE-testing ensures the pump can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -32 C to 65 C.
  • Tested in corrosive, contaminated E22 and E95 fuel blends to ensure long life and fewer callbacks.
  • Our ceramic resistor cards and wipers include redundant sets of contacts (wipers) and grids on the ceramic card to make sure the FLS electrical signal remains continuous and well grounded. That means there will be no loss or interruption of signal to the fuel gauge or ECM/PCM.
  • Our corrosion-resistant OE design not only improves durability by resisting sulfur contamination, it also includes the latest sensor card technology for greater fuel gauge accuracy.
